Introduction & Aims:

  • Golf demands endurance and fatigue management, especially during competitive rounds lasting 4-6 hours and covering over 10 km.
  • Recreational golfers usually walk the golf course, carrying their bags or using trollies. Golf carts tend to be used more in warmer climates or for those with medical exemptions, whilst elite amateur and professional players typically rely on caddies.
  • Previous research has shown no significant differences in activity energy expenditure (AEE) between carrying
    clubs, using a push trolley, or an electric trolley. However, the effects of golf cart use on AEE remain unexplored.
  • This study aims to assess 1) AEE differences between competitive golfers walking the course and using a golf
    cart, and 2) the impact of golf cart use on physical and mental performance.
